A boy with big smile! ☺️ Meet, Mirror Mirror! 💙
Mirror comes from two very special lines, his sire is GC, BWR, NW Tsar Blu’s Ziggy Znow, from Donna Fuller’s Tsar Blu Cattery, and his dam is CH Velva’s Una Mattina of Blue Aura, bred by our mentor - Diana Doernberg. Combining the legacy of two wonderful breeders, Mirror is a special boy we’re very excited to have as part of Blue Aura’s next generation.
Features
Here are some of the features that made Mirror a keeper for our breeding program!
Achieving the open head type seen in the CFA/American-style Russian Blue requires proper ear placement. We look for ears that are set low, open, and have a wide base. Mirror has the ear placement and width that we want to preserve in our breeding program.

Mirror:
High Ear Placement ❌
Here is an example of higher, more upright ear placement as know as the “bunny ears.” This creates a different ( wrong ) overall head type and is NOT a desirable trait according to the CFA Russian Blue Breed standard.

A Russian Blue should have a straight profile, and Mirror has a very clean, straight profile.

Mirror's mom - Una MattinaMirror's dad - Ziggy ZnowThe Russian Blue should have a short, dense, plush coat. Coat length is particularly important to me.
Our foundation girl, Una, whom I got from Diana, has a beautiful short, plush coat, and Mirror’s father also has a very short, dense coat. I especially like seeing this around the neck area, where the plush coat creates almost a soft “scarf” appearance while still remaining short and close in length. Look at Mirror’s Scarf, he is still young, so his coat may continue to develop and blossom as he matures. Based on his parents, I expect we may see even more density and plushness with age.

Short, Dense & Plush:
This is the coat type we are aiming for:
No coat ( thin coat ) ❌:
If a cat doesn’t have that “scarf” appearance around the neck, it most likely lacks the desired thickness and density in the coat as well. To me, that plush scarf around the neck is an important indicator of a properly dense coat.
Expression is also very important to our breeding program. Our cats share a certain recognizable expression, and Mirror carries that same look.
For us, developing consistency is important. We want certain features and an overall expression that become recognizable as the look of our line rather than simply producing individual cats without a consistent type.
Overall, Mirror has the structure, type, coat qualities, and expression that I want to preserve and continue developing in our Russian Blue breeding program. 🩵
